Washing Your Face – Not Just Soap and Water!
Posted by Dr. Joshua Fox on December 14, 2012

Youthfulness – or the lack thereof – is especially visible in a person’s face. Women (and more increasingly, men) go through great lengths to prevent and conceal signs of facial aging. It is common knowledge that washing your face is a simple way to keep it looking youthful. But did you know there’s more to it than just applying soap and water?

Doing it the Right Way

Face washing should typically be done no more than twice a day; however, this rule may be broken after excess sweating, as sweat can irritate the skin. When washing your face, always use a gentle, alcohol-free cleanser and apply it with your fingertips. Rinse your face with lukewarm – not hot, not cold – water and gently pat your face dry. If your face is dry or itchy, refrain from touching or scratching the skin and apply a moisturizer, being especially careful around your eyes.
