Ultherapy West Islip
Aging takes a toll on the body, wearing it down. As with other mechanisms within the body, aging significantly slows the production of collagen, which is responsible for maintaining the skin’s elasticity. This decline in collagen production causes the skin to droop and sag, leading to turkey neck, double chin, and other undesirable appearance changes often associated with age. For many years, cosmetic surgery has been able to revitalize skin that has loosened and sagged as a result of aging. Due to its costs, risks, and postoperative recovery period, surgery was not always a viable option. Advancements in technology have paved the way for non-invasive skin tightening techniques that can refresh aging skin at costs lower than cosmetic surgery with minimal to no downtime afterwards and no scarring.
The board-certified dermatologists at Advanced Dermatology, PC, with offices in West Islip and elsewhere in the tri-state region, offer Ultherapy for non-surgical skin tightening. Ultherapy takes advantage of ultrasound to tighten and tone aged, sagging skin. The ultrasound kick-starts the replenishment of collagen, which in turn restores the skin’s elasticity. As the collagen replenishes, the skin regains its tight, youthful appearance.
If you interested in Ultherapy, you will meet with one of our West Islip dermatologists to find out whether you qualify. During your consultation, your dermatologist will review your medical history and you will discuss your concerns and goals. The Ultherapy treatment process will be explained in great detail and if you are a suitable candidate, your treatment will be scheduled. You will have the opportunity to ask any additional questions you may have about Ultherapy.
Your Ultherapy treatment will be performed in the comfort of our West Islip office; you will remain awake the entire time. You may experience mild discomfort during treatment; however, we will provide you with ways to minimize this. After your face is cleansed, the Ultherapy handpiece will be placed over the treatment areas to reinvigorate the growth of collagen. An Ultherapy treatment typically lasts around an hour.
After Ultherapy, you will be able to immediately resume regular activities. For the first few hours after treatment, some patients may experience swelling, puffiness or a flushed appearance. Over the next three months, the collagen regrows, and the skin’s regained elasticity becomes increasingly noticeable. A single Ultherapy treatment usually provides satisfactory results; however, since Ultherapy does not inhibit the natural aging process, patients may want additional treatments.
