Candidates for Calf Implants
This surgery is suitable for both men and women who are unhappy with the physical appearance of their calf. This may include people with calf deformity due to injury, illness or disability.
Other candidates for calf implant surgery are people in good health who work out excessively without seeing any noticeable improvement in their leg muscle.
Should you consider calf implant surgery then it is important to have a realistic expectation with no pre-existing medical condition that may negatively impact surgery or the recovery process.
Calf Implants Procedure
The surgery is done on an out-patients basis, under anesthesia and can take up to 90 minutes to complete. Your surgeon will use a surgical marker to outline the site of incision. Thereafter they will:
- Make an incision into the calf.
- Insert the silicone implants.
- Stitch the skin back together.
- Place compression bandages on the incision area.

It is expected for you to avoid exercise and to stay off your feet for at least two weeks. Therefore, it is expected for you to book some time off work.
