The Ultimate Guide To Kybella

Can we tell you a secret?

The secret to beauty isn’t a formula we keep locked away in a vault somewhere. It’s achievable for everyone, and it’s called confidence!

But confidence can be hard to develop. A lot of the time we look at ourselves and see flaws and imperfections. One of the things that frequently leave our patients feeling insecure is the small pocket of fat that can often collect underneath our chins as we age. This can be due to weight gain, genetics, or just normal aging, but no matter the cause it can leave you feeling self-conscious and lacking confidence.

Fortunately, one of our favorite treatments for double chin is easy, requires a trip to the doctor no less than half an hour long, and has results that are typically permanent!

What is Kybella?

Kybella is a non-surgical solution to double chin problems. It targets the stubborn fat that accumulates between your chin and neck. It’s called submental fat, and Kybella works to break it up by way of injecting a concentrated deoxycholic acid. This breaks up the fat cells, and leaves you looking younger! The treatment takes approximately 30 minutes to perform and should be performed by a physician experienced in cosmetic injections.

Who is Kybella for?

Kybella is for adults with moderate to severe submental fat. If you feel your submental fat is particularly noticeable, talk to one of our experts and find out if you would be a good candidate.

What can I expect?

The treatment is very quick and the downtime is minimal. You should not experience any pain during or after the injection, however, mild discomfort may be experienced for a few hours following the procedure. This can be treated with mild non-steroidal anti-inflammatories such as Advil or Tylenol. You may experience swelling or bruising after the procedure, but most patients see a reduction of these side effects in a few days. Kybella is usually administered in up to six separate sessions, spaced one month apart.

What kind of results can you expect from Kybella?

The results of Kybella can vary, but more than half of Kybella patients start to see at minimum moderately good results by the third session. You may receive up to six sessions, but since each patient’s needs are individual, only a thorough consultation with your provider can determine your needs.

How long will the results last?

Since Kybella destroys fat cells, progress is usually permanent, although any missed fat cells can still store fat if proper diet and exercise are not adhered to. As with all procedures, Kybella is not a weight loss solution, and it’s important to maintain your health with a proper diet and exercise to protect your investment!

What are the side effects?

The most common side effect is bruising and swelling at the injection site, but if this is treated correctly through anti-inflammatories, then you’ll have minimal downtime. Other possible side effects include swelling in adjacent areas and temporary numbness around the jawline but this is not likely in patients following the correct post-procedure protocol.

Beauty is confidence, and our goal is to help you restore that confidence in a way that fits your lifestyle the best. Is Kybella the right option for you?
