You’ve heard us talk numerous times about the new wave of non-invasive treatments. Thermage has been around for quite some time, but it still remains one of our more popular options for non-invasive skin tightening.
So what exactly does Thermage do?
The treatment uses radio-frequency energy to achieve three specific things: contouring, tightening and firming the skin. It naturally contracts the skin causing stimulation of collagen deep within the skin. The typical areas of treatment include: under the chin, the jawline, jowls, and nasolabial folds – it can basically be used on the whole face, or on other body parts.
Who can be treated?
Thermage is not for everyone – it is in your best interest, for any cosmetic procedure, to have a consultation with your doctor before having any treatments done. There are many treatments and procedures that are specific to skin color, Thermage works for all different skin types, from fair to dark skin.
What is a typical treatment like?
A Thermage session can generally last anywhere between 20 minutes to 2 hours, it is dependent on the area being treated. The radio-frequency energy translates into a heat sensation that can quickly be felt during the treatment – the heat sensation forms because of the skin stimulation this in turn causes the collagen to tighten.
Results
Visible improvements can be seen immediately, gradual changes in your skin can be seen for the following six months after the treatment. While you may be a little red after the treatment (only for a few days), there is no downtime – and patients almost always return to their normal activities. The procedure requires no special care or follow-up, of course if you have questions or concerns for your doctor after the treatment it is best you get in contact with the office.
