If you have been affected by COVID-19, you know that the struggle to recover isn’t over after you test negative. The disease sometimes leaves behind side effects that you’re left managing after it’s gone – including dealing with the disconcerting aftermath of rapid hair loss.

When you’re stressed out or sick, sometimes your body will force hair into a shedding phase at one time, causing it to fall out in clumps. Naturally, Covid-19 triggered bald and patchy spots in large numbers, and many people were left feeling self-conscious and distraught.

Fortunately, we do have a treatment that can help you get your old self back.

Introducing Selphyl Hair Restoration

The Selphyl hair restoration procedure helps individuals with partial hair loss to grow hair back naturally. It’s not recommended for people who are effusively bald but may be perfect for someone experiencing the normal hair loss that comes with prolonged illness. If you’re a COVID survivor – or you’ve simply experienced hair loss due to the stress of the pandemic, then you are a good candidate for Selphyl.

What is the Selphyl hair restoration procedure like?

The procedure is pretty simple. First, we’ll draw a small amount of your own blood. Then, your blood will be placed in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the red and white blood cells. The platelets are the key! They are then injected back into the area where you need hair growth. The platelets encourage the prolonged release of growth factor hormones, stimulating the stem cells in your scalp, and rejuvenate your follicles to grow new hair!

There is little to no downtime with Selphyl, but afterward, you’ll be asked not to scrub or scratch your head for up to 72 hours. The whole process is a series of 3 of these treatments, all spaced about four to six weeks apart. Depending on the severity of the loss, some patients may require a second series of injections, but see the most dramatic improvement can be recognized with the first series.

When can I expect Selphyl results?

It takes 3-6 months to see your Selphyl final results, but they are worth it! Studies have shown that Selphyl treatments extend the hair’s growing phase, ensure that follicles are healthy enough to survive, and stimulate hair growth overall. That means most hair restoration patients are able to be on their way to healthier-looking hair in half the time it would take to regrow normally.
