Ultherapy® Treatment
How Ulthera Works
Ultherapy utilizes a small device on the skin which emits an ultrasound to reach the skin and tissue beneath your skin. Depending on the handpiece used, we can control the depth of treatment.
It is like a sonogram where an image of the tissue underneath your skin can be seen on a screen. The Ulthera device not only sees underneath the skin but it is also used to deliver heat energy at low levels to tighten and remodel the affected tissue without leaving any negative effects to the surface of your skin.
The reaction to the low levels of ultrasound heat energy causes the skin to contract immediately. The heat energy stimulates your collagen which will refresh itself over time. When the new collagen grows it will gradually tighten the skin, resulting in a natural skin tissue lift.
How Ulthera Differs from Other Non-surgical Skin Tightening Procedures
This procedure is the only one that employs the use of ultrasound imaging and therapy. By using ultrasound, it allows us to see underneath the skin and then the area we are treating. In addition, in our experience it works far better than previous non-invasive techniques.
Expected Results from Ulthera
With only a single treatment, your collagen is stimulated to grow anew and results can sometimes be seen immediately. For the treatment to fully take effect, it will occur gradually over a period of two to three months. Clinical trials reported results of tighter, firmer, more youthful looking skin. These studies documented changes in appearance that were significant in 90% of patients. Our patients particularly like the better defined jaw, and lessening of the jaw line and turkey neck.
After Ulthera
After the procedure, you can return back to work and continue with normal activities.
For some people, your skin may look puffy, slightly swollen, or flushed after the treatment, but this should last for only a few hours.
Safety of Ulthera
Ulthera is safe. Ultrasounds have been used for medical purposes for over a half a century and numerous clinical studies have proven that they are safe. Since the fall of 2006 Ultherapy received FDA approval for performing non-surgical lifts using ultrasound technology. Your physician will go over any additional safety concerns that might be relevant at the time of your visit.
What to Expect During Your Ulthera Consultation
During your consultation with an expert dermatologist, it will be discussed whether Ulterapy will meet the needs you are looking for. You will need to give a complete medical history, which will include if you have used any medications or have any medical conditions that may affect how Ultherapy will react to you skin. You can then go over the areas that you would like to have treated. Any additional questions you have about your treatment will be fully answered.
This procedure has been shown on The View, Dr. Oz, The Doctors and many other educational programs. Come and schedule a consultation in our offices in the Long Island, NY, Queens & Bergen County, NJ area, if Ulthera, this non-surgical, no downtime procedure is right for you.
