Botox Treatment
Have people come over to you and asked you Is anything wrong? Why do you look so angry? Well Botox can solve those problems and smooth away your worries. Botox can smooth out those angry lines and have people telling you, you’re looking good instead. Botulinum Toxin previously only Botox but now also Dysport are the only treatments of its kind for the treatment of moderate to severe frown lines between your brows, which stops and limits the movement.
Botox is an injection made from purified protein which is produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. This protein limits the activity of your muscles in your forehead which cause frown lines to form. By limiting this activity, your frown lines begin to smooth out, leaving you with smoother, clearer, and younger looking skin. Our offices across Queens, NY, Long Island, New York and Bergen County, New Jersey all offer Botox.
Where can I have Botox?
Botox is used on the face for a temporary improvement in your appearance. Botox has been FDA approved for frown lines between the eyebrows. The other areas of the face that Botox are used on include:
- Frown lines (between the eyebrows, angry lines)
- Forehead wrinkles
- Crows feet
- Corners of the mouth
- Lifting up eyebrows
- Areas around the nose (sides of nose and flaring nose)
- Near the neck to reduce neck bands
There are many other areas as well. Speak to our expert cosmetic dermatologists for a full list.
How Botox® works?
Botox is injected into the desired treatment area to smooth out wrinkles. This is accomplished by the injected protein that is Botox which is made out of the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. This protein blocks the hyperactive activity of your facial muscles which are the cause of frown and other lines. When Botox blocks this activity, your facial muscles relax and smooth out, resulting in smoother, younger looking skin.

Either before or at the visit of your Botox injection you we provide a detailed consultation with one of our cosmetic dermatologists to decide if Botox (or Dysport) is right for you, or if you might need a facial filler such as Restylane. During your consultation you will need to provide such information as your medical history, your background, your desired treatment areas, and what you hope to accomplish with the treatment. It will then be determined if those areas would work best if you choose Botox.
After the treatment areas have been selected, Botox is then injected into those sites. Botox will then begin the process of stopping the muscle activity in the treated areas. After a few days you will begin to see signs of smoother skin and will look and feel younger and revitalized.
Am I affected after treatment?
You can come in during lunch, have a treatment and go right back to work afterward. Botox is a very short procedure lasting usually about 10 minutes, but could take longer depending on the amount of areas that are being treated and if you like pre-treatment numbing of the skin. There is no downtime after a procedure, though one may experience some side effects. Some side effects one may rarely get include: slight pain at the site of injection, mild headache, dried mouth, mild sluggishness, tired droopy eyes, and some neck pain.

At the consultation you might be offered to be treated for your convenience if our dermatologist agrees.
Does Botox work on all types of skin?
Yes. Botox can be used in all skin types, from light skinned to darker skinned. Such as, you may not be able to have Botox at that time and place if you have a skin condition on the desired site of injection.

We try to avoid a frozen forehead look as in our view it looks less natural. However, some people like that look. The overwhelming majority of people feel that they look very natural after the Botox injection.
How long does it take?
The treatment usually takes upwards of 10 minutes. It can take a little longer if there are more areas of treatment or complications or if we need to anesthetize.
Does it hurt?
There might be some slight pain at the injection site, depending on the sensitivity of your skin.
How much does it cost?
Costs may vary depending on the number of areas being treated and if you have been previously treated, along with other factors. For further pricing information, you will need to come in for a consultation.
