Microneedling

Microneedling Treatments

Years of aging and sun exposure have negative effects on our skin, such as scarring, uneven pigmentation, and stubborn wrinkles. Microneedling offers a flawless complexion without the risks associated with laser treatments. Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that induces a controlled injury to the dermal and epidermal junction in the skin. The goal of this treatment is to remove skin imperfections while promoting collagen and essentially creating firmer, more beautiful skin. The Board Certified Dermatologists at Advanced Dermatology utilize this impressive technology to rejuvenate and enhance your complexion, helping individuals target their skin-care concerns.

What is a Microneedling Pen?

A Microneedling Pen treatment delivers a combination of healing serums and the mechanical injury required to initiate the body’s natural healing process. Unlike dermal rollers, this innovative method is completely customizable, allowing us to reach deep tissue layers and achieve your appearance goals. The infusion of hyaluronic acid coupled with forced dermal injury set the building blocks for healthier and revitalized skin.

Microneedling Procedure

Prior to your treatment, our clinical team will thoroughly cleanse and anesthetize your skin, for total comfort throughout the procedure. Next, the dermatologist will employ a sterile needle-tip with 36 tiny micro-needles. Once the session begins, your skincare professional will administer hyaluronic acid and move the Microneedling device across the treatment area. Your dermatologist will determine the treatment depth aligned with your individualized needs and goals. As the machine glides across your skin, microscopic channels are created, initiating collagen induction therapy. Your body will synthesize new collagen for up to one year following treatment. You may require several sessions and additional skin serums depending on your treatment goals.

Generally, patients need about 3-6 treatments for maximum results. Those looking to treat deep wrinkles, stretch marks, advanced sun damage, or scarring may need 6 or more treatments. For the safety of your skin, the treatments are spaced out about one month apart from each other.

Results

Because the process causes less damage than some other treatment options like dermal rolling or lasers, the healing process is quicker and in many cases more successful. Post-treatment you may be red or pink, almost as if you got a sunburn, however, in a few days side effects will subside and pave the way for a beautiful complexion.

Post Treatment:

Try to avoid wearing makeup at all (if you can). If not use only mineral based foundation to avoid the formation of bacteria. After about 4 days you are free to use your regular products. A kit will be available for you to take home for post-treatment care.
