Ultherapy

Advanced Dermatology, PC Blog Ultherapy

Everyone is talking about the new skin tightening procedure, Ultherapy, on shows like Extra!, Entertainment Tonight, the Dr. Oz show, and in magazines like Elle. It was recently named “Best In-Office Treatment” in NewBeauty’s 2013 Beauty Choice Awards. But you may have more questions than a news clip or blurb in an article can offer. Like what exactly is Ulthera, how does it work, and is it right for you? We’ll try to answer some of those questions for you now.

WHAT IS ULTHERA?

Ulthera is a non-surgical treatment for sagging skin in the face and neck areas. While it can target many areas of the face, it is especially well suited for parts that are usually hard to treat like under the chin and above the brow. Ulthera is a totally non-surgical, non-invasive alternative to a facelift.

HOW DOES ULTHERA WORK?

Using a device that emits high intensity ultrasound, Ulthera targets the collagen-producing layer deep beneath the skin. Heat energy is delivered at low levels to tighten the skin and remodel tissue. This tightening occurs without any negative effects to the surface of the skin. Skin will begin to tighten immediately after being treated with the ultrasound heat and over time new collagen will grow. This will tighten and firm the skin and lift the tissue producing results similar to but less aggressive than a facelift.

IS ULTHERA RIGHT FOR YOU?

After an Ulthera treatment you can immediately return to your daily activities without any downtime. Any puffiness or flushed skin that some people experience should diminish within a few hours. Ulthera is a great alternative to a facelift for those who don’t want to undergo surgery. It is not a replacement for a facelift but is available as an option for those who don’t want to have an invasive procedure that requires downtime and may result in scarring.

Ulthera has been featured on Dr. Oz, The Doctors, and many other programs and because it is effective without being invasive it is growing in popularity.
