Dr. Nicholas M. Kunda, MD, MBA, FACS is a fellowship-trained, board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, breast, body, and hand.
Dr. Kunda completed his General Surgery Residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he was the recipient of many awards, including twice being named Resident Teacher of the Year. In addition, Dr. Kunda was awarded a $100,000 scholarship for a one-year Research Fellowship in Immunotherapy at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Dr. Kunda then went on to complete a second residency in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Stony Brook University Hospital/Nassau University Medical Center Program, serving as Chief Resident during his senior year. Lastly, Dr. Kunda concluded his training by completing a Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship at Stony Brook University Hospital. In total, his training encompassed more than a decade at leading academic medical centers across the United States, equipping him to deliver the highest standard of surgical care through advanced, evidence-based, and innovative techniques.
Nicholas M. Kunda, MD, MBA, FACS is among a highly select cohort of surgeons nationwide to be triple board-certified in General Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and Surgery of the Hand. He has authored more than ten peer-reviewed scientific publications and has presented his work at regional and national academic forums. His professional service includes prior appointments to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ Leadership Development Committee and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand’s Business of Hand Surgery Committee. He currently serves on the American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ Young Plastic Surgeons Steering Committee, playing a pivotal role to help shape the future of his specialty.
Complementing his medical expertise, Dr. Kunda holds an MBA in Health Care Administration from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst, where he was honored with inductions into both the prestigious Golden Key International Honour Society and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society for his academic achievements.
Dr. Kunda is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and an active member of several esteemed medical organizations, including The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The Aesthetic Society, The American Association for Hand Surgery, and the American Association for Physician Leadership.
