Chemical Peels for Treating Your Skin Problems

By: Jayme Bashian, Director of Simply Posh Aesthetic Spa, Laser & Cosmetic Specialist

Most women go to medical spas to seek advice of newly introduced beauty therapies that can solve their problems. Many women have fine lines, stretch marks, wrinkles, acne scars, etc. At Simply Posh Aesthetic Spa, we strive to solve all of your beauty needs from head to toe.

What is peeling?

Peeling is a process of exfoliating and treating the outer layers of the skin to stimulate collagen, improve skin texture and hyperpigmentation. This treatment is especially effective at addressing discoloration, age spots, wrinkles, fine lines and acne.

What is the difference in peels?

Chemical peels are available in two different intensities. For most people, a light peel will suffice, targeting the outer layer of the skin and calming irritated skin. A light peel requires no downtime afterwards but may require multiple treatment sessions for best results. Those with more troubled skin types may need a medium peel, which targets deeper layers of the skin. Unlike a light peel, the medium peel offers satisfactory results within two treatment sessions; however, several days of recuperation will be necessary, during which the skin may be irritated.
To find out whether chemical peels or microdermabrasion is best for you, you will first consult with our aesthetician. Upon hearing your concerns and examining your skin, your aesthetician will be able to help you decide between chemical peels or microdermabrasion. In some cases, your skin may benefit from both.
