Silhouette Thread Lift

What is Silhouette Thread Lift?

Silhouette Thread Lift is an innovative procedure that is used to restore youthful contours to aging faces. Sometimes referred to as a “one stitch facelift,” this treatment is minimally-invasive and can be completed in just 30 minutes.

Redefining Facial Contours with Silhouette Thread Lift

As we grow older, the amount of collagen in our skin decreases. This contributes to sagging skin across the face, which obscures the graceful contours of the face. Silhouette Thread Lift uses unique temporary sutures to gently lift the skin and tissues to restore definition in key areas of the face. We are currently using Silhouette Thread Lift to:

  • Eliminate sagging skin along the jawline
  • Minimize draping on the neck
  • Lift the brows and reduce sagging across the forehead
  • Improve contours on the midface
  • Add better definition to the cheekbones

The Technology Behind Silhouette Thread Lift

Silhouette Thread Lift is a unique type of temporary suture that is made of polylactic acid (PLA), a polymer that has a long history of safe use in medicine. Sutures made from PLA are re-absorbable, which means that they will be naturally broken down over time. Silhouette Thread Lift sutures consist of a single thread of PLA with unique cones incorporated into either end of the thread. Once the sutures have been inserted, these cones act as scaffolding beneath the skin to provide a gentle lift and restore definition. In addition to providing support, the sutures also stimulate the production of new collagen. By the time the sutures absorb, the skin will have a renewed firmness and volume, which prolongs the effects of the treatment.

How is it Performed?

First, your doctor will gain an understanding of your goals and discuss how Silhouette Thread Lift sutures can be used to reverse signs of aging and redefine facial contours. Then he or she will use a special marker to indicate where the sutures will be placed and inject a local anesthetic around each location. This is the only uncomfortable part of the procedure – after this step, Silhouette Thread Lift is completely painless.

Using a special needle, your doctor will then make tiny incisions at the suture entry and exit points. He will then thread a fine needle through these incisions and pull the suture along the length of the treatment area (for example, along the length of the jawline). Once the suture is in place, he will gently pull the suture until the cones move into position. Then he will massage the skin backwards or upwards to distribute the underlying tissues in their new location. Lastly, the sutures are trimmed so they won’t be visible above the skin. The process is repeated until all sutures have been placed. This typically takes about 15 minutes per side of the face.
